Abstract
This experimental research was carried out at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Salo. This study aims to determine whether there is the effect of WhatsApp toward students listening skillateight grade of SMPN 1 Salo, in the 2019/2020 academic year. This is a quasi-experimental research. It involved 58 students from two classes, class VIIID as the experimental class and class VIIICas the control class. The experimental class and the control class were taught by using WhatsApp. Data were obtained using pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test data of both classes were analyzed using the T test. Based on the research analysis data showed that the average post-test score of students in the experimental class was 76and the average post-test result of students in the control class was 64. the difference is 12. So, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that there is an effect of WhatsApp toward students listening skillateight grade of SMPN 1 Salo. Keywords: WhatsApp, Listening Skill
