Abstract

Mental Retardation is a condition with less (subnormal) intelligence since the developmental period (since birth or since childhood). The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between social support and the stress level of parents who have mentally disabled children at SLBN Bangkinang in 2023. This research design uses a quantitative and cross-sectional research design. The population in this study were all parents of students/students who attended SLB Bangkinang, with as many as 78 people. The sample in this study was 78 people. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling. Data analysis used in this study is Univariate Analysis and Bivariate Analysis. From the results of research on univariate analysis, it was found that most of the stress was at the level of yes stress in as many as 53 respondents (67.9%), and most of the Social Support was lacking in as many as 54 respondents (69.2%). In the bivariate analysis, the results show that there is an analysis of the relationship between social support and the stress level of parents who have mentally disabled children at SLBN Bangkinang in 2023. This research is expected to be used as a basis for reference for further research to conduct additional research with different variables or methods regarding social support for parents of mental retardation.
