Abstract

The objective of the research is to describe how the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota academic year 2016 – 2017 as the subject of the research. The subjects of this research consist of 32 students of second grade MIPA 6. The method of this research is a Descriptive Research. The researcher used two instruments in this research, those were test and questionnaire. Based on the data analysis it showed that the average of the students’ achievement at the second grade of SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota in reading comprehension of narrative text was 67.43. It was categorized in fairly good level. Furthermore, the students’ responses showed that 15 or 47% the students enjoy teaching-learning of English in understanding narrative text, the students understood about narrative text, the students could read, and the students understand story of narrative text. Meanwhile, 17 or 53% the students didn’t enjoy teaching-learning of English in understanding narrative text, the students didn’t understand about narrative text, the students couldn’t read, and the students didn’t understand story of narrative text.
