Abstract
Stunting is slow linear growth, where the length or height does not match age. Stunting in children under five is a nutritional problem caused by protein intake and family food security. The research objective was to analyze the relationship between protein intake and food insecurity and the incidence of stunting in children under five during the pandemic. This type of quantitative research with a cross sectional design. The population is 55 mothers who have children under five. The study was conducted in October 2020- January 2021., the total sample of 55 children under five was taken by total sampling technique. The collection of protein intake data used the Food Recall 2 x 24 hour questionnaire and the measurement of food insecurity used the Food Insecurity and Experience Scale (FIES) questionnaire. as well as nutritional status data, namely TB using microtoice. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with Chi-Square test. As many as 29 (53%) children under five were stunted, 34 (62%) had less protein intake, and as many as 32 (48%) were food insecure families. There is a significant relationship (p <0.05) between food intake and insecurity with the incidence of stunting in children under five. The conclusion of this research is that protein intake and food security are factors related to the incidence of stunting.
