Abstract
In the 2018 global burden of disease study, knee and hip osteoarthritis ranked 11th and the most common cause of disability worldwide. Approximately 250 million people (3.6% of the population) worldwide suffer from knee osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of cycling exercise on reducing pain in elderly osteoarthritis sufferers in Sei Putih Village, Kampa Health Center UPT working area in 2023. This type of research uses a Quasi-experimental method with a pre-post-test research design in one group (one group pretest-posttest design). Where the sample in this study must beobserved twice, namely before and after being given treatment. The population in this study was 82 people. Data analysis used in this study was Univariate Analysis and Bivariate Analysis. From the results of the study in the univariate analysis, it was found that from 15 respondents, the average intensity of joint pain before being given cycling exercise was 5.00 and the average intensity of joint pain after being given cycling exercise was 2.43. Meanwhile, in the bivariate analysis, it was found that there was an effect of cycling exercise on reducing joint pain in the elderly. The results of this study are expected to be able to help the Sei Putih village community, especially the elderly, to reduce joint pain by using cycling exercise therapy as a therapy to reduce arthritis
