Abstract

ABSTRAKrnThe low use of the IUD is due to the low motivation of family planning acceptorsrntowards the IUD. Data from 9 Villages / Kelurahan in the Work Area of thernBangko Jaya Community Health Center, Rokan Hilir Regency, Pematang IbulrnVillage is one of the villages with the highest number of active family planningrnparticipants, namely 1,245 people, but in the last 3 years none of the familyrnplanning acceptors have used IUDs (0% ). Extension using leaflet media is onernway to increase the motivation of family planning acceptors towards the IUD. Thernaim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of counseling on the IntrarnUterine Device (IUD) on the motivation of women of childbearing age to use IUDrncontraceptives in Pematang Ibul Village, Bangko Jaya Community Health Center,rnRokan Hilir Regency Work Area in 2020. This research is quantitative in typernusing Pre Experimental Designs, one group design. Pre test and post test, samplesrnof 33 respondents with purposive sampling technique were analyzed using thernMcNemar test. The results showed that there was the effectiveness of counselingrnabout the Intra Uterine Device (IUD) on the motivation of WUS to use the IUDrncontraceptive with p = 0.035 and a Z value of 2.29> z table 1.96. It isrnrecommended that health workers provide counseling using assistive devices suchrnas leaflets or audio-visuals as a media for continuous outreach to female womenrnso that they are motivated to use the Intra Uterine Device (IUD).
